This gender stuff is out of control. I have been having serious discussions with my son of late regarding whether boys can have anything pink because he claims it is a girls' color. He is only 4 and we have definitely never told him that pink is only for girls! his dad definitely has pink shirts. that said, we got a bag of hand-me-down clothes for his little sister and one can tell it is a bag of girl clothes because it screams pink, pink, pink!
He actually asked if he could wear a dress one day and I told him he could but we needed to get one big enough for him. He keeps going back and forth on whether he can actually wear a dress because he is a boy and boys don't wear dresses. I told him that Marc Jacobs would disagree but naturally that went over his head
This morning I told him that there were some dresses in the hand-me-down clothes he could choose from if he wanted to wear a dress and he asked if he had to go to school today because he really wants to wear a dress but not at school. so we are going to pick out a dress for him to wear at home.
I am not sure what my point is but I think it something like Biz's point? We can only do our best to raise our children to be good people because when they go out into the world they will be confronted with whatever the world says is the "right" way to behave and there really isn't much any one parent can do to change that. but if we try to raise tolerant kids then hopefully that will pay it forward somehow? you can lead a horse to water and all that. I might have mum brain today, I hope I am making some sense!
PS I can't believe that the Toy Story shirts have Bullseye but not Jessie!!!! WTF is up with that?
PPS great show as always, ladies!
