Re: Double Dare
I was very much into Double Dare as a youngster. I have a very vivid memory of reading a blurb in a magazine for kids–I can't remember which one it might have been–about the food used in the physical challenges. The bit in the magazine reassured children who may have thought it unfair to waste such incredible volumes of creamed corn when people were starving in, say, your Africas or whatnot. "Don't worry kids!" the article gleefully said, "All of the food used on Double Dare is well past its expiration date!"

Parachute was definitely part of phys ed in my childhood, here in Washington state, and in the after-school program I worked in briefly about 8 years ago. They fold up pretty small and usually come in a cover, so not seeing them in the storage room doesn't necessarily mean they're not around.
