Re: changing over the closets, smack-dab in the middle of the stretch of months we get here in the Seattle area where you cannot put away the winter sweaters but have one day in five where you want to break out the summer stuff... pain in the ass.

I like hearing Jesse good-mouth Howard Stern; in my Information Tunes review of JJGo a couple months back, I talked about how, when Stern used to be on terrestrial radio, I'd listen to him all morning 'till it ended at 10, and then switch right over to NPR-affiliate WNYC to listen to Brian Lehrer, Leonard Lopate, Terry Gross, etc., and how JJGo is really the venn diagram of the aesthetics of Howard Stern and NPR. I stand by that comparison. I think that Howard panders to the meatheads in his audience to the degree that he has to, and sometimes beyond, much like Carolla does. But it doesn't detract from his excellence.

[Sunny D and] I loved Jesse casually dropping John Olerud, which was a fantastic pull. My internal comedic instincts were to go to the Special Olympics, which is where i encounter people who always wear a helmet. John Olerud is infinitely better. As an elitist, i wish Jesse wouldn't have referred to it later as something to Google, leaving it as a treat for those in the know...not highlighting what an awesome joke it was.

Speaking of which, knowing a bit of Roman history, but not having seen the movie Pompeii, i found it an interesting exercise to piece together what Jordan recalled drunkenly seeing from the film together with my history knowledge, to guess what was actually in the movie. After looking up the plot, i was only moderately successful. I correctly guessed that "Emperor Keifer" probably wasn't the Roman Emperor Titus but some more minor official. I failed to piece together the horse tribe part, guessing it might have something to do with the equestrian class of Roman society. That turned out to be Celtic horseman from Britain, which might excuse some of the accents. I anticipated that Pliny the Elder might have been involved, but i couldn't match him to any of Jordan's descriptions.

Anyway, that movie sounds like a pile of crap, so guessing the plot from Jordan's description is one of the best ways to enjoy it.

I was gonna post about how I'd join Jordan in defending Anne Hathaway from haters, but then I ended up editing the audio on a classic internet video:
http://youtu.be/sxFEwROOXqU (NSFW language)
It's dumb.

That reminds me of the Lee Elia Cubs fans rant from '83. Some brilliant engineer used the tape in a fake Cubs radio spot, using the actual music bed from the then-current Cubs radio spots. That showed up on one of the "Celebrities At Their Worst" CDs from the early 2000s.

Yes!

"Rip them motherfuckers, rip them country-cocksuckers..."

I haven't heard that in years. I don't remember the fake Cubs spot, though.
