I got tricked into learning about something called afrobeat! That's how these episodes are working for me: I get lured in with something like the Pee Wee's puppet maker, and then bam, I want to buy an album from a genre I had no awareness of. Also inspired by this essay I just read, particularly about how you might have to listen a bunch of times to get it: http://davidbyrne.com/news/press/articl ... c_1999.php Jesse must have been so excited to talk to Wayne White, but all the questions were deep digging ones that got awesome answers, not basic fan questions. My only complaint was that it could have been three times as long. Really interesting stuff about art came up. Still don't really get Brent Weinbach, but very intrigued.
