We both did not know. She had taken pregnancy tests and they came back negative. Had blood work done by doctors for unrelated reasons and they didn't mention it. She really didn't show the way a pregnant lady usually does and they baby came a bit early so she never "dropped" putting the typical baby bump in her belly.

Everyone is great. Baby is in perfect health, Mom too. I've had a big appetite, but that may be for any number of reasons.
Initially, Mom went to the Emergency room because her discomfort had become more intense. We thought she was having really bad menstrual pain. She had her friend pick her up to "do girl stuff" which I assumed meant eat ice cream, watch movies, braid hair. But, eventually led to the ER. When they examined her they told her, "We don't do births here, you have to go to the Maternity Ward." Which is when she called me.

My wife (then girlfriend) and I went through almost the same thing as you 9 years ago. She didn't know she was pregnant until blood tests in lieu of some x-rays showed she was 5 months pregnant. She told me, we went to the doctor's for a check-up and found out her blood-pressure was super high. My wife was admitted to the hospital for severe preeclampsia, and one week later, our baby boy was born! He was 3 months premature, but was able to get to birth weight without any major issues. So yeah! All the stuff you mentioned about not showing and other symptoms being non-existent, while sounding incredible, are totally possible.

The anti-union part was kind of discouraging.

Quote: We thought she was having really bad menstrual pain. So. . . I don't want to be super intrusive, but since menstrual pain came up: was she still getting her period?

Congrats on the Whoops Baby! Glad everybody is healthy and happy.
Jesse: I am still unconvinced that the OMI location of El Farolito is superior to the 24th & Mission location. However, they are both infinitely superior to the El Farolito that I recently discovered is on Haight Street.
Though, the Haight Street El Farolito does have some nice hammered-copperwork decoration inside.

I don't think I've ever turned on a guest as quickly as I did when he started to shit-talk the teachers' union. Not that unions and their leaders are sacrosanct and above ridicule, but I didn't think that right in the wake of a striking teacher calling up the show is the time for that. edit: I should add that in no way did that make me hate Pesca or anything. He managed to win me back with less politically mired humour. I need to remember that just because someone makes me laugh, it doesn't mean we'll view life in the same way.
