Until this very day, I thought that Tom Snyder the talk show host was also the guy behind Dr. Katz and Home Movies. Turns out, life is just like Energizer: it'll surprise ya.

I also thought it was Tom Snyder, the talk show host, and was saddened to learn he is no longer with us. I can only hope his body was cremated ann thrown to the wind so they could watch the ashes now, fly through the air.
After one of the last few episodes where Jordan and Jesse both picked new nicknames and Jesse saying he is sick of his this week, I think it might make sense to pick new ones for each episode. Maybe in 2013 if ragnarok does not consume us?

Jesse, tamales are certainly something you would expect to find at a Cuban restaurant. Specifically, you'll find Cuban tamales, which are fucking awesome.

What a delight Jonathan was! I was only 7 or 8 when Dr. Katz premiered and I can't say for certain how old I was when I started watching, but I do remember it being the only show on Comedy Central that my mom wouldn't force me to turn off for some reason. Maybe it was the squiggles. In any event, he is one of those rare, lifetime pass, true legends in my mind. Thank you for having him on!

eeeeeyaaaayyyyy! I love JJGo personal ads! Seattle ladies, if I'm thinking of the right guy, I met Chase once, very briefly, and he was nice and "not homely" as Jesse would say. you should definitely contact him for dates! (I can't because I'm way too old, but you should!)

I can certainly relate to the bus driver story. I'm a diagnosed narcoleptic and have, on multiple occasions, accidentally told people I have Necromancy, Narcophobia (which I don't think is even real), or in one extremely oblivious instance Narco-pepsi.
I also have this urge to introduce Mr. Katz's humor to my dad. Seems very dad-friendly, at least to dads that enjoy Demetri Martin.

That was a great episode. It's crazy how much talent is in that Snyder/Loren Brouchard television tree.

The momentous occasion caller said he found out he was having a boy I believe, not that he found out he was having a child, so the four and a half month number makes sense.
Oh, and Jonathan Katz is an absolute delight at all times. I went to a standup show last year in the Boston area that Eugene Mirmin put on where Katz appeared unbilled and it was one of the happiest surprises ever. I loved this episode.

When I was a kid my family had three channels, at best. My best friend's family has a satellite dish. I would try to make sure to be at his house when Dr. Katz was on. It's kind of mindblowing to me that he was on the podcast. For my teenage self, it would have been akin to having Jerry Seinfeld on.
I have no doubt many of the jokes on Dr. Katz were over my head, so I'm thinking it's worth a revisit.

I really must read this American Nerd book Jesse mentions! I love Gussie Fink-Nottle from Jeeves and Wooster; it's no coincidence that my cat is named Gussie...

This episode is a freaking delight. One of the best. Jonathan's endless string of one liners is impossible not to love.

This has to be one of the best episodes in a very long time. I don't mean that as "oh God, the show's been awful thank goodness something on form", I mean, "man this show is always delightful but this week was EXTRA delightious."
Seriously, great banter, and lots of amazing jokes. Loved every minute of it. Have these guys back again!
