I simply HAVE to take this opportunity to share this with you all. I found these years ago and revisit the site every couple of months just to read this again and be amazed. Pictures from the Star Trek Experience wedding site.
I also recommend checking out the site for Quark's Bar and Restaurant there because the menu items have great names like "Flaming Ribs of Targ" and "Hamborgers".

What a trippy show. You could never tell what was her voice and what was a voice.

I always wanted to be a cartoon voice, but now I can see how Maria Bamford is about ten cartoon voices, so oh well to that little dream! Granted that one voice is like a 5 year old Valley Girl so I think the casting agents for tween Noggin and/or Disney shows should give me a call. I want to be paid for talking like myself.
I guess I'm thinking about this because my pal just told me "Rachel, sometimes you talk like an eighties high school sitcom character" just because I said something was "super duper fun!" I feel kinda sad about that.

Was said "super duper fun" thing a skinny tie or having a neighbor named "Boner"? If not, then you're safe.
I kinda don't get those Star Trek photos. It seems like they're getting married in costume, then there's a picture of them in a traditional tux and gown. Did they put those on at a time other than the actual wedding ceremony??? The plot thickens...

Funny you mention Boner, we had a babysitter growing up who we thought looked like that dude from Growing Pains so we called him "Boner", clearly not knowing we were calling him an erect penis.
There is so much wrong with those photos, I can't even begin...namely, they are clearly posed shots...now are they posed for the website or are they just posed wedding pictures? I really hope those two kids made it.

Believe it or not I get the same thing. People are like, "are you for real?" It has nothing to do with my voice, more what I say.
I think enthusiasm catches people off guard sometimes.
I have been to the hilton in las vegas and it was awesome, just because it really feels like being in a star trek episode. I am not the hugest star trek fan either, but the bar was cool and the other people (the people who really got off on it) were kind of fun.
I loved this interview. I love Maria Bamford. She is smart and silly and funny.

That's absolutely totally true. Running gags by some of my closest pals are to point out things they think are silly or dumb or even imaginary and watch me get excited. Then laugh at me. Thanks, pals!

It was really fascinating to hear her mention how much money she makes, not because the figure was particulatrly noteworthy ($70,000 is more than the average person, but still a pretty mainstream amount), but because people usually treat that information like the most secret, intimate thing imaginable. I bet most of the people Jesse interviews would sooner tell him their kinkiest fetish than their annual income.
Neil Pollack was less specific but still fairly open about how being famous (albeit in very limited circles) isn't necessarily a great-paying job, which I guess I knew but was still very interesting to hear discussed.
Jesse, I suggest that henceforth you get all your guests to file a financial disclousre statement.

This interview was so great. Kudos, Jesse. Maria's voices had me in stitches and, yes, I am purposefully trying to use the kind of vernacular that a banal office manager would use. I don't know why, but one of my favorite things is to hear female comics do impressions of "normal" sounding women. Like when Sarah Silverman in "Jesus is Magic" says, "Can I steal you for a minute?" Fucking never fails to crack me up. It's the female office and it's way funnier than the male one.
Also, I totally agree, Jesse, that you should get all your guests' W2's before letting them on the show. Hearing Maria discuss her annual income was way fascinating.

Maria's "Temp want cake" routine had me laughing harder than I can explain. She's so damn cute.
