I went to a Jewish Summer Camp in the wilderness of Pennsylvania.
I came away from it with a lot of stories of how I could have possibly hooked-up with a girl, if I hadn't been a scared little boy.
I've always wondered since how much actual hooking up goes on at summer camps, versus how many people think that a lot of it goes on, because their friend TOTALLY swore that he was making out with this one girl and got to third base.

Big ups to Judge John Hodgman and my legal counsel, Mr. Jordan Morris, Esq. This is a moral victory I will carry with me evermore.

I have a "Mr. Neeve". The fact that he was hired as a teacher is a complete mystery to me. He'd fit in on the beaches of California surfing more than an Inland Northwest classroom. He's a good teacher, just a wee bit pompous.

That was a really great episode. Probably the best live one you've done.
Jordan's Christian camp experience was a lot like mine. The daily schedule had so much time set aside for bible study, and we spent all of it talking about hell.

Sometimes I think I missed out growing up in a religion that didn't have a hell.
My crazy councilors just told us stories about women, and then stole our stuff while we were out at activities.

Just wanted to say many thanks to Jesse, Nick and whoever else did the work necessary to post this so soon after our return -- in time to facilitate major decompression yesterday. Was oddly comforting -- I needed it.

Went to and worked at an arts camp. The theatre people were extremely poly amorous and loved to sing a capella. Needless to say I was not friends with them.

I was at a summer camp twice. Once when I was 11 and they left the rifle shed unlocked. Me and my friend would sneak down at night and shoot cans. How fucking dangerous was that? The other time all of the camp counselors were English or Irish because they were doing some sort of work/travel thing, and my cabin's lead counselor played on England's Olympic and World Cup teams.

Agreed, many thanks for getting it up so quickly. Unexpected.

Oh man, I had some crazy high school teachers. I had Mr Logsdon, my Bible teacher, who told us that God gave the Jews all of the diamonds and the Arabs all the oil, and that's why jewelry has Jew in it (he also claims to be Jewish and wears a kippa, but is zero percent Jewish). I had Mr Leonard, the Government/Econ teacher, who referred to two Korean students as Ping and Pong, claimed that no economist has ever suggested anything but pure capitalism, and once notably said "If Obama gets elected, you know what will happen? He's going to pull us out of Iraq and next thing you know there'll be a turban living in your house." I even had Mrs Nelson, an English teacher who hadn't heard of ee cummings or The Aeneid and only read us Christian authors.

I realize now that I was probably a smartee kid than I thought. My Mom asked me every summer if I wanted to go to a summer camp, and every year, I gave a resounding "no". I think that part of me knew that although I lived in an Urban area, I could meet weird people, climb a tree and have a makeout session without paying for it or giving up fantastic home cooking. Now that I have chosen a religion though, I'd like to see if maybe a Buddhist summer camp would be as weird and story-generating as your standard theistic camps.

I work at a roller rink, so the Judge Hodgman segment was pretty exciting. I was pleased the judgment was the correct one (though from what I understand, Judge Hodgman is always correct).
Quads are the superior skate. They're more aesthetically pleasing, as mentioed. They're also relatively more stable compared to inlines, and if you get the right kind, faster. Most importantly, however, if you're borrowing a pair at a roller rink, you're better off getting quads as they were used less recently, and you're less likely to get a pair worn not but an hour earlier (worse yet, I've seen inlines that were worn sockless, which is really gross).

Jordan drunk, Jesse on powerful drugs. The fact that Martin Starr was the voice of reason. So funny. So great. Hodgman is always delightful too.

I went to epilepsy camp when I was 12. I am not eplileptic, but my sister was (she had a couple of seizures, then went on meds that controlled it perfectly and has since grown out of it).
This was a regular camp, but the Maryland epilepsy group just all went one week. So my cabin was me, 4 epileptic girls, and 2 unsuspecting campers. One of the girls was completely uncontrolled and had multiple seizures a day. When someone who has epilepsy has a seizure, you have to time it because if it goes over 20 minutes or so you need to call an ambulance. This girl would rhythmically shriek during the seizures, so we would sing to the beat while we timed her.
This all sounds crazy and not fun, but I had an awesome time.
