The Brüno/Eminem sketch converts quite easily into an Orbit gum commercial. Brüno gets his business all up in Eminem's face. Eminem turns to camera 2, pops a piece of gum, and does the patented Orbit cheezy smile. Orbit lady chirps, "for a good clean feeling, no matter what."

I'm not saying it would have been a good commercial, but it's almost certainly better than what Orbit actually went with. Scott Aukerman should hire me as a consultant and give me some of that big Comedy Death-Ray/UCB money.

Also, i suspect that the secret MaxFunCon guest is
Jad Abumrad
, which would be bloody fantastic..

I'm not sure why people are talking about Sons of Anarchy recently. Did it get really amazing? I watched it for about a month as my first-ish Hulu experiment.

Anyway, as someone also slightly related to Judaism, I'm going to assume it's well loved by the Zionist Conspiracists because Ron Perlman is really rather Jewish and old and Jewy.

Hey Jesse, that time-travel shirt that was mentioned is actually from your fellow Topatoco tee-shirtsman, Dinosaur Comics' Ryan North.

The shirt is here: http://www.topatoco.com/merchant.mvc?Sc ... ry_Code=QW

"He will knock four times," actually.

In defense of Doctor Who, in the UK it's one of the most popular programs, so while that doesn't entirely forgive the US fans for their nerdishness, because it takes a certain amount of anglophilia-nerdishness to be a Doctor Who fan, the new series (since 2005) has a very broad appeal as well as a nerdish one. EVEN IF you haven't watched all 46 years of the program's history (in fact, it's 46 years old today), It's sufficient to start with the 2005 relaunch, and most "fans" don't have an encyclopedic knowledge of the show.

Also, The Waters of Mars ended on a very dark note which shows the Doctor essentially pushed past his breaking point. It's really exciting, and even astonishing, so I'd say that young man was entirely justified in his excitement.

In the past, on JJGo, I think I recall Jesse saying that the old series from the sixties through the eighties really too goofy and dorky to be actually likable. That's a barrier for some people, but it's part of why I love it (and only part, there's also a lot of really good writing and directing). But the new series really is a very popular drama, and these days it's not that much nerdier to be into Doctor Who than it is to be into, say, Lost, or The Wire, or Mad Men.

Oh man, I knew that shirt sounded familiar. Of course Ryan North came up with it.

Also, I echo what Tom Dickinson says here about Dr. Who. The old series was lovably awful (though there were occasionally undeniably good episodes written by the likes of Douglas Adams), and the new series is just solid. I need to get caught up on it and check out this Waters of Mars thing, it sounds exciting.

Tom Dickinson thank you so much for being normal when writing about Doctor Who. I on the other hand was going to have a nerdgasm all over the message board giving a review of the episode, talking about the show's spin offs, and other geeky things. You had a much better approach.

It is pretty weird that the episode of JJGo that mentioned The Doctor was posted on the 45th anniversary of the show being aired. Maybe the Secret is right like Jesse said.

For the other Whovians out there, I met Gareth David-Lloyd at a sci-fi convention 2 weeks ago!

Oh man was that episode good. The guests were great. I am even going to check out "I Love You, Beth Cooper."
And you guys should check out Doctor Who. It's on NetFlix Watch Instantly.

Paul is great in I Love You Beth Cooper, but you should really expect it to be a Chris Columbus movie, because it is one.

Paul's story about trying to write a caption for a new yorker cartoon had me ROLLING. Especially neil's suggestion "why did the world turn to black and white?" I've gotta say this one was more of the laughery ones i've heard recently.
