Carl Newman is a founding member of indie band The New Pornographers, and also performs solo under the moniker A.C. Newman. Check out our interview here.

Here are the funny New Pornographers videos Jesse mentioned:

Moves - directed by Tom Scharpling
Use It - featuring David Cross, Nardwuar the Human Serviette and Shane Nelken.
Mutiny, I Promise You - featuring Kristen Schaal and Kurt Braunohler

NP is also responsible for the single best passage of music in the history of mankind, The Hey-La Coda of Bleeding Heart Show

Thanks, Jesse. I can stop requesting him now and just concentrate on Neko Case...even though you obviously would book her if the logistics worked out. Julia, make it happen.

Please.

We've tried to book Neko Case a couple times. Hopefully her next LP she'll do it. Awesome to get Carl on the show.

Yeah, that Hey-la coda is pretty much the greatest thing ever. Really looking forward to hearing the interview.

Jesse,
I'm curious about your take on indie rock given your much professed singular love of rap. Do you actually enjoy indie rock, but play up the love of rap for comedic effect? Do you appreciate indie rock, but just can't personally get into it? Are these interviews a response to knowing your audience?

I loved this. I have nothing more to say than that. I simply loved this.
