Yikes, this may be the most serious JJH yet.
These guys have been in a band (that makes money?) for ten years, recorded multiple albums in Europe (?), and are affluent enough to buy houses in Portland.
And they want a hilarious book writer and minor television personality to settle their business issue? What?

Normally, I find the litigants who come on JJHO to be charming, and you can clearly tell that each side likes/loves one another aside from the complaint. This show, though - woof. It was tough to listen to. As someone with two younger brothers, I know how brotherly spats can go. But these two... I don't mean to be rude or too negative, but they aren't very compatible as people, so what makes them think they could be good bandmates? Truthfully, I've never even heard of their band, much less listened to a second of their work, so its possible that I'm missing a great many things here. But this was a thoroughly unpleasant episode to listen to, and through no fault of anyone but the litigants.

Agreed. It seemed like Hodgman was getting legitimately agitated with them at times. And the fact that their actual dispute was non-existant didn't help things either.
But c'mon guys, I can't believe no one said this -- the band name should OBVIOUSLY be The Fictitious Lilys.

Okay, so I'm not the only one who found these guys to be incredibly annoying and unlikable. This was the first JJHo show I wanted to turn off before it was done. I guess they all can't be the cow guy and his son.

They remind me a good deal of some people I know, so I didn't find it as grating as some of you. The talking over each other was the only part I didn't like, but a number of other guests have done that too. They probably just wanted to try and impress Judge Hodgman.
I say cut them some slack. They're musicians, not comedians. You'd probably get along with them.
I thought the guest bailiff did a nice job. It was unfortunate that the Judge had to put him in his place though. I understand it, but I was interested in hearing him talk, too.

In order to cheer up this melancholy forum, I would like to point out that I live in Portland, and I HAVE been to Awesome Cone. The cones are indeed awesome, not just medium-awesome, and the owner is as hipstery as portrayed in the podcast. He also freely admits he did it for the publicity and that the dispute was mostly fictitious.
Apparently the publicity works though, because I have found NOW THAT I AM ADDICTED TO THE "PIG" CONE (pulled pork and cole slaw), that the owner is apparently too well off to adhere to any classic notion of proper business hours or work weeks. On multiple occasions (okay, I got there a little too much) I have been to the food cart park where Awesome Cone is located, and found every food cart there open EXCEPT FOR AWESOME CONE! This is frustrating, and I am forced to choose to eat some other concoction such as a brazilian pig belly sandwich or a korean bulgogi burrito. First world problems...
In conclusion, Awesome Cone is awesome, hard to get, and I hope JJHO is able to enjoy one when he is in town for his book reading at the Bagdad, which is not far from the food cart park in question.

How was it, after all, that Jeffrey was taking care of John's cat, yet John did not know that Jeffrey plays songs?
