So, not to brag or anything, but I have a tape deck in my stereo system. I LOVE making mixtapes and I love getting mixtapes. The problem is, almost no one I know still has a tape player and the few who do generally have them in their car and can't make me tapes in return. So my question to you folks is... Does anybody still make tapes and do they wanna start a mixtape exchange??

I'm going to scour the pawn shops and thrift stores around my house for one now. I have a stack of cassettes just lying in a box anyway. I think we should do this.

Awesome... Keep me posted on your hunt for a deck and in the meantime we'll wait and see if anybody else decides they want in on this totally awesome idea.

I'm down. I tried to start a mixtape group on FB (the Mixtape Consortium), got next to no interest. Lot's of blank tapes and few reasons to use them.

If you two wanna private message me mailing addresses, and any musical styles that you're just not open to, then I can get rolling on tapes for both of y'all. I'm not really sure what the mixtape exchange rate is for folks who can't record stuff, but I'm open to suggestions.

I'd be down if anyone wanted to do Mix CDs. This is the only cassette player that I have:

I was going to excitedly reply "hey, i had the same tape player!" until I googled "fisher price tape player" and found out that it was an incredibly common little gadget.

Oh lordy, this would be radical, if only I had a way to create or listen to mixtapes. Or if I wasn't completely out of the loop when it comes to music these days. But maybe I can hit up Goodwill stores to find something. If so, does anyone want a mixtape comprised entirely of 90s Christian metal?!

I wanted to just replay "No, that's why they are all at Goodwill", but I was afraid that would come off as mean towards you, rather than just being observational humor, and that is why I buried said joke in this longer explanation.

So I'm super super down for this!
Two ideas: Those who can't make a cassette just make a CD. Just stick to the 90-min limit of a standard mixtape.
We should set a timeline for this. One date for everyone who wants to get involved to sign up by. And one that we all send out the tapes/CD. That way everyone has a schedule to stick to.
Thoughts?

Tapes!
The folks trading CDs won't want our tapes because they don't have anywhere to play them.
I would do CDs too, but that's got to be a sub group.
