Wow! I just downloaded all of her albums and bought her new book all this week! TSOYA has been full of pleasant surprises as of late.

Great show, it is neat to hear an interview done in the subject's own space, it seems like most TSOYA interviews are conducted on Jesse's turf.

I love the book, she read one of the stories for Studio 360 last week....I wish she would narrate an audio version of it because her phrasing and inflection add something to the stories.

Jesse did a good job but it wasn't the most interesting interview I ever heard.
She seemed really impressed with herself. It was kinda boring, and I was really looking forward to listening. Her movie was great, and I am sure her book is good. But she herself - snoozers.

I liked her movie a lot. Loathed the performance piece of hers that I saw. Haven't read her book.
Its true that she seems somewhat impressed with herself I guess. But I think the kind of focus that it takes to achieve that kind of realized vision of her work, almost in a bubble, is part of that. Also, I think that comes across more because she is one of the only people on TSOYA that comes from the art world, which accepts different language and a different attitude towards your work. There is kind of a self-effacing speech that is encouraged among comedians especially but also among the kind of musicians that Jesse interviews (ones with niche appeal, for lack of a better way to describe them). I could be wrong about this... Just an idea.

Miranda July is to art what Tina Fey is to comedy. Art nerds (including myself) just dig this woman to death. Incredible guest, great interview.

Jesse, what made you bring primarily a performance artist on your show?

Then you have a rare and lucky iPod- they skip too (for some reason almost always when Ira Glass is talking, in my experience). It may have transferred badly- try taking it off the iPod and putting it back on again.

Just heard and enjoyed this interview. Is it the only TSOYA not recorded over the phone or at Jesse's studio?

Question for Jesse: how did you come to record it in Miranda's place? What sort of gear did you need to bring with you, and how well did the setup work?
