OMFG I just watched Spellbound honestly four times in as many days. I was gonna recommend a Jeffrey Blitz interview but figured he was (a) in the middle of his new movie and (b) has a stammer. This is awesome.

This interview made me think about my high school experience.
I went to a private school, and graduated in a class of 80. It was honestly easier to identify people by the cliques that they weren't in, because everyone knew, and hung out with, basically everyone else.

Great interview. One thing I am curious about (and which hasn't been addressed in any interviews I've come across or even in the commentary of the film) is that amazing scene in Spellbound where Neil's dad is talking about how easy it is to succeed in America, and then walks in front of a Latino gardener. Pretty much makes the movie.
Now when are you gonna interview the King of Kong people?

ALSO just watched Spellbound yesterday.
MAN, That "Do I Sound Like a Musical Robot?" kid IS great (as discussed on JJGO!) Every moment with him is spectacular.
Also, "My parents remind me of Edith and Archie Bunker. Archie's always yelling at Edith for... being dumb." *awkward silence*
Every character in that movie is represented as to show 1) their biggest flaws and 2) their humble, sensitive, positive sides. Most of the redeeming moments come after the kids lose the spelling bee, but it represented so many different parts of the funcionally disfunctional American family to me that it was one of the more fascinating documentaries I've ever seen.
A while back, right after listening to this interview, which was GREAT, I watched Rocket Science ("There's a cello in your house now.") and now it is one of my all-time favorites.
Does anyone else think that last line in the movie was Jeffrey Blitz talking through the movie to his dad about why he MADE Rocket Science in the first place?

Jeffrey and Sean will be on the show in about two weeks talking about their new film "Lucky."
