I've noticed a few people have expressed interest in carpooling and I thought it might be more likely to happen if people didn't have to sift through large threads to find each other.

I know that gracelita is heading down from Portland, Oregon.

And forum super-star dukerayburn is looking for a compatriot coming through Omaha, Nebraska.

Any takers? Any others?

Depending on Gas Prices/ Travel dates and so forth I may well be driving from Seattle.

I will keep appropriate people posted.

I have a car, but I want company! Nothing is set yet, (I can't even afford my ticket right now) but I my tentative plan is as follows...
Leaving Portland EARLY...June 9th or 10th and staying in the Bay Area a night or two.
PS. I'm thinking about staying in LA an extra day or two and not leaving till the 16th.
Join me for one way or both ways, part of the way or the whole thing. I would like to try to meet in person before June if possible.

Yeah, if there are still slots open after Halloween I've received a dispensation of wedding money to-be to put down my non-refundy. If anyone wants to unify in Omaha for the trip I have a sturdy car and a sturdier resolve. It's an automatic, so it should be friendly to new drivers, and my then-wife may also be along for the trip. If you live between Omaha and So-Cal we could arrange a pick-up. I've never taken a big cross-country trip aside from those with my family or with school groups, so I'll be taking it a bit easy, probably aiming for a three day route, maybe squeezing it down to two on the way home. I'll have the full JJGo archive on my iPod and lots of other fun stuff in the car. There's a rubber chicken, for starters, and maybe even Travel Sorry!

I'm based out of the San Francisco, and would be interested in discussing carpooling options with people who are similarly based, or will be passing through.

Ditto on SF.

Though I still have yet to make flight arrangements, I plan on flying from Chicago to San Francisco to visit my cousin a few days before hand. Times are tough and I'd prefer on not having to get a rental car if I don't have too. I'd be willing put up some gas and food money, not to mention some charm for some car poolin' action.

I also plan on flying out of L.A. after the event, an extra day or two there would be great...

Gracelita, Ben Johnson, your tentative plans seem to be similar to mine...

Today I got off the waitlist and onto the actual list.

I'll be coming from Phoenix. Heading over just for the weekend.

As wife will need the car, I'd love to carpool. And, yep, I can pay for the gas.

My plans are not set in stone yet, but I might be driving from Billings, Montana to Salt Lake City and spending a day or two with family, then driving from SLC to MaxFunCon. I'd be up for a passenger or two if that plan holds.

I've entered my info in the carpool spreadsheet, but I thought I'd cross-post here, just in case. I live very close to LAX and could drive folks from and/or to the airport. However, I have to leave after breakfast on Sunday.

Colleenky, I'd love to take you up on your very generous offer. Feel free to shoot me at email -- address is my username at the google. I'll send you a PM, also.

Update!

I am moving from San Francisco to New York City in about 2 weeks, so I won't be car pooling down the west coast. Still planning on flying to LA for the con, tho'.

Okay, so it would appear that I just missed the deadline for booking a ride on the shuttle. So, I'm going to appeal here.

My plan is to fly into Ontario the day before MFC starts and get a hotel room and to leave the day after (cheaper flights). Because I haven't booked anything yet, though, I can still fly into LAX if I can get a ride to and from there.

Any consideration is appreciated. Smile

Similarly, I also just missed the shuttle deadline. I will be booking my flights soon from SFO to LAX, and would appreciate a ride. I can't rent a car as I don't have my license. I left my contact details on the spreadsheet if you would be so willing. Of course, I'll also pay for gas and chip in for the rental.

Thanks!
Nicole
