Great interview. I really like the music splice-ins when a song is discussed/mentioned.

Great interview. I saw her live when "Leviticus: Faggot" was a single. It was a pretty good show.

"Da Butt" = total classic. In 20 years, people will still be doing it.

Somewhere on NPR a couple of years ago someone did an interview with her and then did a piece about how hard it was to interview her. It was stilted, awkward, and not terribly revealing. IN particular, I seem to recall her saying that she hated to be interviewed and didn't like to talk about her music and didn't have too much to say because she didn't really pay attention to anything in particular.

Then Jesse gets her to be responsive and even giggling a little bit and certainly talking about her path and her music and even responding to the sexuality question. Totally impressive considering the impression I was given from that previous interview with her. What a talent that Jesse is!

Considering that reading just even reading the words "Da Butt" is making me do a somewhat goofy voice saying "Sexay, sexay!", I feel good about the song's prospects.

And when is the last time you heard somebody say "<someone> got a big old butt" and NOT wanted to say "Oh yeah!" These are the things that make a song a classic.

In my head.

Which is firmly planted IN DC and thinks Junk Yard Band's "Beef Jerky Time" is also a classic.

Oh, wow, Junk Yard Band! I am not and have never been a DC person, but once when a friend and I were walking around Boston at night inhaling non-legal substances, he carved "John Wayne" into a telephone pole because of that band.

I think "Loose Booty" is my favorite tune of theirs.
