I have to say, parts of this interview reminded me of Gene Simmons on Fresh Air. I mean, she really came after Jesse, accusing him of not doing his research, and, of course, of being a stupid man.
Also, I wonder, was Miss Piggy really there, or just Frank Oz, her radio interview stand-in? _________________ PF Bearman

Wow. Just wow.
Jesse, there are so many questions this interview raises, I'm starting to wonder if it was an episode of Lost.
First of all, was Miss Piggy in the studio with you? Like, the actual muppet? If so, what was she wearing? And how has she aged? Did you get to touch her? Is that felty muppet texture springy like a foam pillow or hard and crusty? And as a follow-up, seeing as you record in your house, WAS MISS PIGGY IN YOUR APARTMENT? Holy crap. If so, you can never move.
Second of all, was Frank Oz with her? If so, did you get a chance to interview him? I think he'd be a really great interview. I'm not sure how used to extemporaneous speaking Miss Piggy was, and she seemed to fall back on a lot of catchphrases and whatnot, but I think Frank Oz himself could tell some FASCINATING stories off the cuff about what it was like to be in on the Henson magic way back when. _________________ Great Googly Moogly,

Frank Oz hasn't, uhm, performed with Miss Piggy for about ten years.
And she was in the studios at WNYC in New York. _________________ "I am not a demon. I am a lizard, a shark, a heat-seeking panther." - Nicolas Cage |

Ah. Well, then, uh... yeah.
Still, nice "get". _________________ Great Googly Moogly,

Eric Jacobson does the voice of Miss Piggy now: http://muppet.wikia.com/wiki/Miss_Piggy
I once had to do a bunch of Muppet research recently. You find a whole bunch of neat facts. |

Somehow it didn't quite flow for me.
I'm a huge muppet fan but I didn't think Piggy was all that great. She never really got into a groove somehow... At times she was doing the 'diva' thing, then she'd tell an odd story, then she was talking about Kermit and then writing a book... I wasn't actually sure what she was trying to go or what she was trying to say... It felt like she was 'trying' too hard somehow.
It was cool having her on TSOYA, and maybe I'm being a bit hard on her... I mean Piggy's great. But it just didn't quite come together for me.
But the Tambor interview is SPECTACULAR! Stuffed full of awesomeness! |

Totally agree. I loved the Muppet Show and grew up in the Muppet Babies era, but the interview (her part, more specifically) was rather janky. It was an out-of-the-box kind of guest though, so still big props to Jesse for giving it his best. |

I think the best moments occurred whenever Jesse touched on the subject of Miss Piggy's lopsided love affair with "Kermie"--she would get all offended, which was hilarious. _________________ Unicorns and girl boners for all! |

Mentioned this show to my podcasting friend Steve Swanson, at The Muppetcast.

| Piggy was right, this really was a badly researched interview. Jesse, you had the chance to find out the real story about Pigs In Space and you never brought it up! |
