Having some trouble with the servers, dealing with tech support about it. Should be fixed soon (hopefully).

If anyone had trouble, it should be all sorted. Delete and re-download if necessary.

This was great. I really enjoyed Merlin's thoughts on how creating a community is more than just turning on comments, how it also is a responsibility. Also a lot of comments about the unexpected interplay between consumers and producers of media reminded me of this Clay Shirky talk he talks about how media that is targeted at you, but does not include you may not make it:

I had been curious about JJGo's inclusion of its listeners through the use of momentous occasions and the animal fights. How did you decide to do it? Did it just arise? Was it more calculated?
Also really dug Merlin's comments about creating a space to do your stuff rather than relying on tricks.

As far as TSOYA is concerned, there isn't a natural way to include listeners, so I haven't, at least on-air, except of course for the donor messages.
JJGo was more based on traditional call-in radio, only asynchronous. I wanted to find ways to encourage people to tell a little story, which I think people like listening to (I know I do). All the segments have come up very organically.
Oh -- and I was also inspired by Ze Frank and the crazy and fun stuff he's done with his fans over the years. I want the stuff we do to be fun stuff to do, whether or not it gets on air or whatever.

In case it wasn't clear from my earlier post the momentous occasions and junk are one of my favorite parts of JJGo! so thanks for (having interns) slogging through the more boring user-generated content so that we can end up with great stories like the one about a rooster in a fishbowl in someone's garage.

Excellent show. What Merlin Mann had to say on online communities and creative integrity was particularly inspiring. It was also interesting to hear Jeff Olsen talk about the role fan criticism plays on their brand, specifically with the bumps Adult Swim broadcasts on television.

I do most of the slogging myself, frankly.

In that case, I apologize for the time I called that in retrospect mostly came out as incoherent swearing.

I really enjoyed this panel, thanks for including it.
A friend of mine works for adult swim's website and told me she met you while you were in Atlanta. She was the one who talked to you about her roller derby injuries, I believe? Must be nice to work somewhere that cool.
Anyways, keep up the good work.

In response to some of the comments made in the panel about building an online community and the benefits of working to form a community instead of allowing things like anonymous comments, I think it's interesting to consider the example of 4chan.
I'm not a member of the community, and I've spent very little time there, but I was kind of fascinated by the system in place there. No registration, and you could post under any name you wanted. But there seemed to be a strong stigma to posting as anything other than "Anonymous". This lead to a few things, from what I saw. One was that people were free to be as hostile and annoying as they wanted. But the other, which I found interesting, was that it created a weird sort of democracy, in that no one's identity mattered, only what they were saying at the time. You couldn't hold past arguments against someone, only what they were saying in the moment. In that way, it was really liberating.

Requesting a proper show with the Bros. Chaps, if possible. Those guys seem like a fun time.

They are the nicest guys. They have been offered studio time whenever they are next in LA, don't you worry.
