I really liked this interview, because I've long thought that Lloyd Kaufman is one of the funniest, smartest guys in the movie business. I'm not sure I've ever enjoyed one of his movies, in the strict sense of the term, but I recommend the bonus features and commentaries on the DVDs without reservation.

Kaufman is undoubtedly a fairly gruff, crotchety dude who like the hear himself talk. The thing is, I *love* people like that! I thought it was a great interview. I would have appreciated some in-depth discussion of the acid-trip autopsy during "Redneck Zombies," however.

My ex-bf used to work at Troma. I designed one of their DVD covers (he designed many of them) and Lloyd is quite a character, kind of a blowhard, and friends with Ron Jeremy, who would come hang around the office and talk about himself a lot.

WTF is Lloyd Kaufman talking about?

Sean "P. Diddy" Combs "likes guns" and is in a "raccoon movie"?

Is that some sort of racist joke or something (coon, you know)?

Or is my town just too backwater to have these posters?

Do you think he might have been talking about Notorious?

Don't know what he was talking about when he said raccoon movie, though I certainly didn't get any impression that he meant "coon" in the racist sense.

Here in LA, though, every wall is plastered with action movie-style posters for his cologne, "I Am King."

Believe he was calling back to his earlier comment (about how animals and guns both appeal to audiences) about how Animal Planet should make movies with raccoons holding guns to maximize their profits.

I thought the call-back was actually really clever, and then realized that, because of the animal in question, it came off sounding racist, even though it really didn't seem to be meant in that spirit.

Kaufman seems like the kind of guy who's been fervently self-promoting and living his persona for so long that he can't act like a dude, anymore, only Lloyd Kaufman. Kind of like what I think hanging out with Stan Lee would be.

Still, cool, interesting interview, Jesse.

Glad to hear it; that's what I get for making assumptions about a person's tendency to self-promote based off an interview where their goal was to promote themselves.

Oh, God! That makes it so much better.

If I had a cologne, I'd have to call it "I am more than slightly overweight and, frankly, kinda gay."

And that is why I don't have a cologne. All that printing.

And we'd probably get sued 'cause we'd just be re-packaging Old Spice.
