14 year old me thought Rising Sun was just the greatest. Hell, I even remember being into Disclosure. I'm sure many people went through their Crichton phase, soon after followed by their Grisham phase.

Loved the Walt Weiss and Jesse reads Canseco. Also: I know Jordan mentioned "salad in a bread bowl" as an aside, but that actually seems like it should be something.

Although a few hours early, combining the hosts of two of my favorite podcasts - JJGo and How Was Your Week is a better present than I ever deserved to receive.

It's worth noting that all versions of Catholicism are made-up versions of Catholicism.

Loved IKEA talk. I have to admit that walking through the IKEA showroom still has the qualities of a magical wonderland to me. It probably has to do with my timing (I'm always starting a new place from scratch when I'm there ... we'll set aside the problem of me starting too many new places), but wandering through the showroom looking at new furniture makes me think of all sorts of delightful new possibilities. I also really, really like the 300 sq ft apartment demos, and have always wanted to live in one.

Jesse, you would probably like Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels. It's probably his best movie, and it's a heist movie at that.

It is funny that such an in-depth discussion of Jose Canseco should come up as a relatively long story about his current life was just written. Anyway, he seems to be a (knuckle ball pitching) playing manager for an independent minor league in Yuma, Arizona.

But it doesn't have Bullet-Tooth Tony! Ok, it is pretty awesome.

I have to admit I got really upset when he was quoted putting down my childhood hero Will Clark. Then I remembered that Will Clark is probably kind of a dick, too :).

i've known about the canseco twitter for a while because some weird miscreants i follow constantly retweet his bizarre musings.

so far my favorite tweet is "I am looking for an exorcism from a Christian girl can u handle it", but there is a close second with "Bruce is a half weimaraner and half great dane that takes 5 pound dumps that are twelve inches high and can open doors"

follow this guy if you don't already, it's incredible

In my daughter's first year, I watched Taken and the remake of Last House on the Left - loved and developed defensive dad-rage from Taken, and Last House has made me nervous about all the shady thrill-kill drifters we have in our town. You might want to get Lifetime Movie Channel and whatever channel Nancy Grace is on blocked from your cable, also your neighbors' cable, just in case you overhear them watching either.

Jesse, one poster was upset with you getting all fake angry at David Malki !

There were numerous posts vociferously supporting your fake furious rage...including a subset of vocal "dipshit" appreciators. If "Jesse gets irrationally angry" were ever combined with "Jesse over-enunciates difficult/old-timey/foreign words" in a single, lengthy rant, i could die a happy man.

She was a hard read in terms of her reaction to the JJGo thing, which I always like. There is a bit of ambiguity in terms of how improv-y are they being, and how much are they a bit put off. No first appearance by Tig Notaro, but in that vein - slightly hostile, and I'm not sure how jokey it is.
