Holy Shit! I know on JJGO guests have been described as a "get" before, but this....this is amazing. Bootsy Collins was for me the main reason I started playing bass myself, and to hear this giant of funk on the podcast is pretty sweet. He sounds surprisingly lucid for a guy I'd imagine must've done a ton of drugs. I don't have a lot to comment on the show itself, just had to express the sheer joy from seeing "Bootsy Collins" in my recent-downloads-list.

The blogpost is up: The great BOOTSY COLLINS, legendary funk bassist, joins us to talk about his career... which has included playing with James Brown's band The J.B.'s on "Get Up", funking it up with George Clinton in Funkadelic and Parliament, and a slew of hits with Bootsy's Rubber Band and other collaborations.
Listen and discuss!

30:02 I LOST MY SHIT. So many perfect things about that moment I don't even know where to start. The vivid image of a 20-something Bootsy, tophat and glasses, standing across from a half-confused, half-embarrassed 10 year old Jesse Thorn sprang to mind immediately and I could not stop laughing. The way that conversation went on to unfold didn't help the matter.
There have been so many great TSOYAs. This was my favorite TSOYA ever.

The mental image of Bootsy and Jesse in a restaurant and Jesse saying "Guess what, Bootsy? I just had some great mouth last night!" is hilarious.

Best. TSOYA. Ever.
Seriously, it put a big smile on my face and I've got a bad case of bronchitis right now!

Before Jesse could even finish his introduction, I was bowled over by what a delightful guy Bootsy was. Bootsy has set a new record for earliest demonstration of awesomeness by a guest.

God, Bootsy is so fantastic. This episode is completely wonderful in every way.
Jesse, did you take the chance to tell Bootsy that you were in a high school operetta based on his works? Please tell me you did.

Did anyone else picture Bootsy leaned back in a big comfy armchair in the star glasses smiling the entire time?

Does anyone picture Bootsy in any other way ever?
Possibly leaning forwards like in that Deelite video.
