I LOVE Deerhoof. I recently read an interview with Jeff Tweedy where he argued that Deerhoof were not "experimental," but simply "original." I'd agree with that. I can't think of any real precedent for this band. It's incredible how they have been so prolific, releasing 9 albums in the last 10 years, and they haven't faltered yet. Actually, they seem to be getting better. Friend Opportunity, in a LOADED year of releases, is still in my top 10.
In my opinion, and all apologies to a jumpsuited Grace Slick, Deerhoof is best SF band ever. Everyone should listen to Apple O at least once in their life.
Excellent work, Jesse. Also nice timing to put it up on the 40th anniversary of the release of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. I'll toss this in the direction of blog heavyweights, and I'm sure one of them will bite. Deerhoof is generally the band all music snobs agree on.

Thank you Jesse for the favorable EQ. It's the least gay I've ever sounded on a recording.

Great interview, great band.
I usually hate the musical guests on the Fair Game podcast but, Deerhoof's live performance on there a while back was really amazing

El Guero, do you really live in San Cristobal? I was there for a few weeks when I was a kid, what a wonderful place that is.

Deerhoof's newest album Friend Opportunity is on sale at iTunes for $5.99.
Yes, it has DRM, but it's cheap!
