So, it turns out that In the Night Kitchen (as described by Jordan in this episode to wide disbelief) is a real thing and was actually Maurice Sendak's sequel to Where the Wild Things Are.

This was my favorite book as a child.

It sounded so made up! Lot's of people had Where the Wild Things Are in the UK, but I don't think Sendak was as big a deal over here and I'd never heard of a nudity themed children's adventure book.

Any mention of "In the Night Kitchen" (I had that book too, and the nudity was a complete non-issue) makes me think of the wonderful interview Colbert did with Maurice Sendak last year: part 1, part 2. R.I.P., Maurice Sendak -- what a sweet old grump.
